Trigger #

The GCP Financial Freeze will be triggered once the current funding source’s spend reaches 90% of the allocated budget for the GCP project.

Actions #

When the Financial Freeze is activated, the following actions will take place to ensure compliance and prevent additional costs:

  • No new provisioning
    No new resources or services will be provisioned for the application.

  • Tenant notification
    AppDat tenants will be notified via email (with the Agency MCP email group attached/cc’ed).
    The notification will state that tenants are not permitted to provision new resources or services and that any tickets or merge requests (MRs) resulting in additional spend will be blocked and not approved.

  • Visual reminders
    A banner will be placed on each tenant project to remind developers and SREs of the restriction.

  • Pipeline enforcement
    The tenant project’s pipeline template will include a check for the group-level variable APPDAT_COST_FREEZE.
    If APPDAT_COST_FREEZE=true, the pipeline will immediately terminate before running any jobs.

Tenant GCP Spend in Kion #

Tenant GCP spend is available to view in MCP Kion launch .

Access Instructions #

For tenants to access their projects in Kion to view spend, follow the directions below:

  • Place the NAMS request AGCY MCP Kion (Formerly CloudTamer) (254572)
  • Select the appropriate tenant under Tenant Organizational Unit
  • Select Resource Analyst under the tenant role selection
